Preparing for Mission

Our papers are back, our answers are in, and we are getting clothes together for the mission. We have found it rains a lot in Talahassee which will be rather homey to us. We have been prepared for this by Oregon weather for many years.

  4. We are over two Wards and two Branches. All were generated by the "Olive Branch" over the last 60 years. The two Wards in Crestview had a talen presentation tonight and they had many lovely voices. All Gospel songs, and a mother and daughter violin presentation. We enjoyed it so much. The people here aren't hard to learn to love. They have taken to Mother like ducks to water. Gramdma amd Gramdpa

  6. Our first day of speaking with the less-active that is our assignment here in the mission in both Wards and in both branches. Hopefully we will be able to get these people coming out to Sacrament meetings, etc. They are a great people and we already count many of them friends. We had our first District Meeting today which was interesting. Mother is doing great and is hugging many sisters at the Chapel.

  7. We were called last night by a young woman who needed food. Sister Warren gave all she felt proper from our cupbards, because it was Sunday and they wanted us to take them to the store. Today we bought a supply to fill us up, and probably more.

So many are having birthdays this month. Kathy even gave a birthday card to a sister we visited, who shared the same birthday as Ben.

  8. Monday 1/19 - We are visiting the "Less Active" in the Wards, and inviting them out to church and activities. We have not really concentrated on getting committments from the people, rather just getting to know them, and hopefully they are getting to know us. I think we are succeeding with Gods help to achieve these goals. The people are good people, and friendly. Kathy and I are giving a lesson tonight in Relief Society on "Preach My Gospel" which is the Missionary training manual to enable them to better teach by the Spirit. Mom and Dad

  9. February was an outstanding month. We have been working with a stop-smoking program which lasts a week. So far we graduated one today who states she stopped craving after four days, and now she has no craving at all after one week. Both husband and wife extatic sbout her being able to stop. They are talking temple trip, and that will probably happen in about six months. I took pictures so we will see if I can get them posted.. We have one other sister that is in her third day now, so we are hoping she can be strong also.
We are going to Tallahassee tomorrow and Wednesday for a Senior's conference.
We are meeting a lot of people, and making some good friends. We have taught several lessons now to less-active couples. It isn't nearly as scarey as you might think. It is just telling them about the Restoration, and the Plan of Salvation, which are easy and well received.
